The drive to Tamarindo and surrounding area was very dry with much dead vegetation. Thanks to www.anywherecostarica.com we arrived in Tamarindo on the West coast. When the shuttle was pulling up to the hotel, I was thinking, “I hope this is the other two passengers place”. But no, it was Hotel Zullymar. The bathroom wasn’t the best, but the room was decent. The pool was really nice, we had a fridge, and were close to the beach and nightlife. We also had very good security. Our room was shared by the odd, bigger ant than I had ever seen and I would kill them with my shoe. One evening there were more in the room then I was comfortable with, so I took it upon myself to spray them with hairspray. They scurried behind a door jamb I made sure the area was fully sprayed and there were no ants after that. And to think we spray that stuff on our hair!
The food and nightlife were much too good! The Wild Panda had Happy Hour every day, all day long. It was a great place to eat a quick lunch. This was just one of the restaurants in the outdoor food court.
The Patagonia Argentina Grill is well known for their excellent grilled steaks. If you are not a steak lover, there is a variety of other choices.
Pangas Beach Club had great food! Fire Dancers and Musician entertained us while enjoying the beach locations.
The beach sported red flags because the undertow was too strong for amateur swimmers to go in the ocean and the ocean and beach were somewhat polluted. The beach offered washed up orange, watermelon rinds and other garbage.
I was shocked to see this young girl riding a real motorbike on the streets of Tamarindo. I am not even sure if she was accompanied by an adult. Yikes!
