Freedom Beach is recommended as a beautiful beach to escape to. It was a bit off the beaten path. Our taxi driver even had trouble finding it. We had to pay 200 baht to go to the beach. The monkey there was very wild and they had it chained up. That is not common, so I am thinking this must have been a really bad monkey.
The view was gorgeous. The amount of stairs that we walked down to get to the beach was overwhelming. I swear there must have been one hundred stairs. I couldn’t even get them all in one picture. When you got close to the sea you could go left up the path. So there was more climbing and then coming down again. I chose to wade through the waist deep ocean water, around the huge rocks to take a short cut to get to the beach. I held my bag above my head and managed to not get it wet.
The place was beautiful and was worth the challenge getting there. There is a place were you can buy drinks and snacks. We spent a few hours there. I was told the snorkelling was good. Now in the back of my mind, I was thinking how are we ever going to make it back up all those stairs.
I noticed some long boats parked on the shore. I asked if they could take us to Kamala Beach. They said they could only take us to Patong Beach, which was perfectly fine with us.
Then we jumped into a Tuk Tuk to get to our condo at The Club. Always negotiate a price before you get in.
