Hotel Huatulco Maxico has a Mexican flavor with a touch of modern newly renovated rooms. I was in a more traditional room the first month, but upgraded to a modern room the second month. Fridges and safes are supplied. The people that work at this hotel are wonderful, including the cleaners. You can expect great service if something is not quite right for you or you need something. Juliete is the friendly manager. Joe and Fabiola work the front desk during the day. There is always a smile and greeting waiting for you! The pool is nice and usually crystal clear. There were a few days the pool was murky after a big group had been swimming all day. The hotel is always on top of it. The lobby has two rocking chairs along with a couch and two chairs where many of us gathered around to catch up with the internet. The internet did not work in our rooms, but it was a great place to meet people. Hotel Huatulco Maxico is connected to a little restaurant called Bossa Nova, which was popular. I enjoyed their very tasty mushroom omelette. You can also hook up to the internet in Bosa Nova or sit at the tables by the pool.
Joe is wearing my new sun glasses that I purchased at the nearby market. In the evenings a young fellow pulls up by hotel lobby with a wheel barrel full of mangos and prepares them Mexican style.
I love the location. It is only a five minute walk to the white sands and clear Pacific Ocean bay called Santa Cruz Beach. From my deck the views vary. To the left is the beautiful Santa Cruz park where there is always live music, a wedding or two and the Saturday market. My other view is a parking lot that offers all kinds of entertainment while sitting on my deck. There was one occasion when I watched at least 20 children and adults getting out of the back of a camper like truck to go swimming at the beach. On another occasion I watched the whole back of a pickup truck fill up with young adults and drive away. Across the parking lot are two very popular restaurants Mercardo that specializes Thai food with other selections and Itoo which offers breakfast. Both of the restaurants are very busy. Also across from my hotel, Remax is making some renovations for their condos. I will stay at Hotel Huatulco Maxico on my next return!
