Guns and Beers is a two minute walk from Hotel Huatulco Maxican, where I stayed. Guns and Beers has so much to offer. It has become a regular hang out day or night for many travelers and local expats. Trauble Makers and Pandilleros are excellent local Rock Bands. The place fills right up and there is a lot of shaking going on. Tables are set up on the sidewalk to accommodate the crowd.
If you are unable to tolerate tobacco smoke, you might want to pass this place up as many people smoke there. This made it difficult for me because I am very allergic. But as long as I remembered to bring my Young Living Peppermint Oil with me to inhale, I managed to get through it. I was questioning if more people smoke because they can smoke almost anywhere in Mexico. Not Sure!
Although I haven’t tried everything on their menu, what I have tried has been really good. The stone fired pizzas are really tasty. I don’t know what they do with their burgers, but they taste fabulous. However they are very big, so you might want to share it with someone. The Onion Rings with Chipotle, French Fries, Omelettes are very good and the Guns wings have just the right amount of heat for me.
For those of you sports lovers, you can watch NFL and NHL on the many TVS throughout the front and the back of Guns and Beers. They hosted the Superbowl. The new addition in the back is called Guns and Beaches. There is a wonderful pool area, with an enclosed shower and clean, modern washrooms. All of this is free to use with a drink purchase or food order.
The Restaurant in Guns and Beach offers a breakfast menu because the front restaurant is not open until later that afternoon. Orlando mixes very good Caesars and Margaritas. If he doesn’t know how to make a special drink he will learn. A Canadian lady taught him how to make a Paralyzer. I had to take a few pictures of some of the staff wearing my funky sunglasses that I found in the market. There is an Iguana that daily watches over the place.
On most Monday nights we danced and listened to a band called Gabriela And The Funk Brothers. The band was really good, but WOW that girl could belt out a tune. They started at 8pm and I did not want them to quit. One night I listened to a Keyboard player. So much local talent in Huatulco!
I met so many great people and I even hooked up with Brent and Kathleen whom I hadn’t seen in years.
Make sure you pay a visit to Guns and Beers and Guns and Beach!
